iPhone app that emits adaptive ultrasonic frequencies to deter mosquitoes. Uses multiple sound layers and anti-habituation technology to stay effective. Runs in the background while you sleep or work.
MosquiGo is an ultrasonic mosquito deterrent app for iPhone. It emits frequencies that mosquitoes find irritating, with three independent sound layers that work together for broader coverage. The core innovation is anti-habituation technology — the app continuously shifts frequency, pulse patterns, and timing to prevent mosquitoes from adapting to static tones.
I built this after spending time in Vietnam's Mekong Delta, where mosquito bites were genuinely painful. I tried an MVP approach, iterating through different frequency combinations until I landed on something that noticeably altered mosquito behavior — they become less aggressive and active, though they don't flee.
The app runs in the background, includes presets for different scenarios (indoor, outdoor, dusk), and has a timer for automatic shutoff. Free version covers basic frequencies; Pro unlocks all three layers and advanced controls. No account required, works offline.
Fair warning: the scientific evidence on ultrasonic repellents is mixed. Some users see results, others don't. I designed this as a supplement to DEET sprays, nets, and eliminating standing water — not a replacement.
